About the Navigation Pane

The navigation pane is docked on the left side of Document CentralClosed The main window where most Document tasks originate. Document Central contains several tabs that display lists of files, file groups, discussions, tasks, and recent entities.. It provides a way to access the storage folders for each entity. The navigation pane contains a separate section for each entity typeClosed A category used to describe the relationship a person or company has with your firm. The entity types available include: firm, offices, business units, staff, clients, and non-clients. . Clicking the button for an entity type expands that section to display a list of recently accessed entities of that type.

Note: Only 30 entities can display in the navigation pane at one time. If an entity you need is not visible, you can add it using the instructions in the topic Finding a Client or Other Entity.

Tip: If there are certain entities you work with most often, you can add them to your Favorites list.

Clicking an entity in the navigation pane displays a list of files stored in Document for that entity on the File List tab. Clicking the arrow next to an entity expands the folder structure for the entity. Selecting a folder in this file structure displays the list of files in that folder.
